Three core requirements, all must be met.
Currently, only a U.S. Citizen may apply for a fiancé visa. The K-1 lets your fiancé enter the United States so the two of you can marry, provided the eligibility requirements below are satisfied.

Requirement 1
Met in person within 2 years
You must have spent time together in person within the two years before filing. A long-distance, online-only relationship, even one that's serious, is not enough.
Requirement 2
Both parties free to marry
Each of you must be single, divorced, or widowed. If either party is still married to someone else, the petition cannot move forward.
Requirement 3
Agree to marry within 90 days
Both of you intend to marry within ninety days of your fiancé's arrival in the United States.
Processing Time
Typically 11 to 18 months.
Time frames vary, but K-1 cases currently process in roughly eleven to eighteen months from filing through visa issuance. Once your fiancé arrives in the U.S., the wedding must take place within ninety days.

Who is not eligible for a fiancé visa?
The most common disqualifier is being still married to someone else. Certain criminal convictions, particularly anything that would be considered an aggravated felony in the U.S., also bar approval without a waiver, where one is even available. Prior immigration fraud may bar you as well; a waiver is sometimes possible.
